Planning Your Commission

A successful portrait captures the essence of a personality in way that goes further than one moment to embrace the many moments and expressions that make up a lifetime. It is a tribute to the whole of a life and character.
Commission Process
Portrait painting is a collaboration between the portrait artist and the portrait client/subject. The portrait artist and client discuss the practical details of producing a portrait. Together, they decide whether to use photos and/or to schedule live portrait sittings, whether to do a formal or informal portrait, whether to do a painting or a drawing, and how much of the figure, clothing, and background to include in the portrait. After agreeing on a price, a time frame, and a satisfaction guarantee/cancellation policy, they sign a contract.
